TIME TO MOVE ON...
As I wrote in my last posting, I've got the "7 year itch" to move on! Or more accurately, I should say move back....back to California. Paula and I have been considering this move for some time, and last month on our trip to La Jolla, we concluded that our hearts were truly back in San Diego County. We are returning for a mix of reasons: we miss our three grandchildren, we want to be closer to our "adult" children, I miss the Pacific Ocean, and Paula will have many more opportunities to expand her business.
This hasn't been an easy decision. We have resided in Northern Arizona since 2004, and especially enjoyed living in our current home in Prescott Valley these past two years. We will miss friends that we've met here, the wonderful "mile high" weather, and the beautiful vistas that surround us. We'll probably miss the slower pace of life....but we also long to return to the more dynamic rhythms of San Diego, with its multicultural diversity, stimulating coffee house conversations, broad range of entertainment, and political tolerance. We will definitely miss the lower prices for homes here, and rental rates that Californians can only dream about! But we are at a point in our lives where we have decided to "down size" and adapt a "minimalist" life style. (Financially, that's about the only way you can live in San Diego these days!) It will be a challenge to move from our current 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1800 square home into a 1 or 2 bedroom condo barely approaching 900 square feet! ( It will encourage us to get out a lot.)
This move won't happen next week! We anticipate that we won't be prepared to move until some time between December 2010 and February 2011. Lots of preparations before us in the coming months, problems to solve, and decisions to be made. And yet, it will be an Adventure and we will enjoy the process. Locating our next "home" will probably be the biggest challenge, given the current rental market in San Diego County. But we know that when the time is right, the perfect place will appear for us. It always has! It will be affordable, in the perfect location, and fulfill all of our needs...it will be the essence of our vision!
Oh...by the way..if any of you on my Facebook Wall know of any long term rentals, houses to "sit", etc....please give me a call at (928) 830-3010 or email me at LarryG2010@cableone.net.
Well, I guess it has all been said for now. More to come in future postings.
